freshly painted walls & all it's glory!

Hi Dovies,

My walls were painted recently and it's hard to believe what a difference a little paint can do!  I have some pictures to share with you, enjoy :)

hurry up spring!

Hello again Dovies,

Is anyone else really anxious for spring to get here!?  I mean it seemed like things were starting to warm up, but I suppose mother nature had other plans.  Regardless, I recently bought some new "spring coloured" accessories for my mantel, they go really well with one of my paintings.  It's almost as if I planned it!

series:  bird
title:  spring mist
 size:  24" x 36" x 1-1/2" canvas
status:  available for purchase

These lovely accessories were purchased from West Elm, I highly recommend having a look, they have some pretty interesting pieces.  Anything from pillows, throws to accessories can really change how your space looks and feels.  If you are feeling a little dreary, try purchasing some brighter objects.

Have a fantastic day!  xo

fast forward - latest art pieces and current events.

Hi Dovies,

I'm very sorry I haven't been keeping you updated.  It turns out that I am horrible at blogging but I am going to try very hard to post at least once a week from now on.

It has been quite a few months since I last posted ere go I have a lot of new paintings to show you, however I will get to that in a minute...

In current events I am trying to get my artwork seen, and it is a challenge for sure.  My lovely husband is working on an updated website for me so there will be that.  I don't know if I've mentioned it before but my website is http://www.wiseowlcolour.com/.  Right now it is not a fantastic looking site, but like I said, it will look much better once my husband finishes with it.

At the moment I am working on trying to break into the Granville Island scene.  I'm not sure if it will happen this year but who knows, worth a shot.  I have to submit 4 paintings and an artist statement to be judged, and I guess from there I have to wait and see if I get picked from the hundreds of artists who tryout to be a  "day vendor" in the market.  This isn't a full time thing by any means, but it would get my artwork out there.

Anyways, wish me luck, and as promised here are some pictures of my latest favorite pieces:

introductory.

Hello my friends,

It is very exciting to finally join the blogging world!  Perhaps I should introduce myself.. my name is Kirsten Courtland.  I am an interior design graduate, now colour consultant as well as a contemporary abstract artist.  I would love to chat with you about colour and all that comes with it!

Summer is arriving and it brings all the pretty colours of nature with it.  Aren't all of those gorgeous trees and flowers inspiring!  Purples, pinks, blues, greens, yellows, the list goes on... if you are inspired by these summer colours, try bringing some of them into your home!  It is very easy and inexpensive to do with accessories.  Swap out your dark pillows for some more colourful ones, and add a few colourful vases or candles to your tables.  Enjoy a pop of summery colour!
